Wait, if you're going to use quotes, aren't the quotes supposed to be around "I turn back to Thaddeus he's got a big gloaty grin on his face. That's the glory of getting me. And he got me alright, again."?
You have a great complete answer! Your restate is incomplete because you didn't say, "At the end of the story, Linus feels..." Linus felt very different at the beginning of the story than at the end. Because you are using one quote to support three different feelings, you need to explain how this evidence supports each feeling.
At the end of the day Linus feels amused. I think he feels amused because according to the text, Linus grinned back because his brother was a seriously crazy, clever dude. Evidence that supports this answer is, “I can’t help it. I grin back. My brother is one seriously crazy, clever dude. “
Your restate and answer are perfect. You second sentence essentially restates what your evidence says. Instead of doing this, try explaining how your evidence proves your claim by including background knowledge that you used to help you make the inference.
At the end of the story, Linus feels amused. I know this because on page 15 it says, “ I turn back to Thaddeus. He’s got a big, gloaty grin on his face. That’s why: for the glory of getting me. And he got me, all right. Again. I can’t help it. I grin back. My brother is one seriously crazy, clever dude.” I also know this because on the test we took about this, that was one of the questions, and amused was the right answer.
I like how you gave a lot of evidence. I also totally agree with that question being on the test and amused being the right answer. Good job on your RAD!
Your restate and answer are perfect. The final sentence uses support that does not come from the text. While this may be good evidence in your mind, it doesn't count as text evidence. Instead of doing this, try explaining how your evidence proves your claim by including background knowledge that you used to help you make the inference.
At the end of the story Linus feels annoyed and amused. Some evidence for Linus being annoyed is, from the text…”I turn back to Thaddeus. He’s got a big, gloaty grin on his face. That’s why: for the glory of getting me.” When my brother James does that to me, I get really annoyed. Some evidence that shows that Linus is amused is, the author stated…”I can't help it. I grin back. My brother is one seriously crazy, clever dude.” This evidence from the text clearly shows how Linus is annoyed but also amused at the end of the story.
Your whole response is amazing! You gave two different feelings, gave text evidence to support each of them separately, and used background knowledge to explain how the evidence proves your claim. When you are introducing your text evidence, "from the text..." is often grammatically incorrect or makes an incomplete sentence. Another way that you can say this, "Text evidence that supports this is..."
At the end of the story Linus feels relieved because he found out that his brother tricked him into it. He found this out when his brother was gloating a grin.
Excellent restate and answer! Be careful with using the 'enter' key. It makes your post confusing when you go to a new line in the middle of a sentence. Also, your text evidence may match the answer that you gave but you would need to explain how. Gloating is to be happy about someone's mistake so when Linus saw this type of smile on Thaddeus' face, do you think it made him feel relieved? If the answer is yes, than you made an inference and you need to explain your thinking.
At the end of the story Linus feels relieved that there is no poisonous duck at the pond, He is annoyed that Thaddeus tricked him, and he is amused. On page 15 it says that when Linus looked back at Thaddeus and he had a Big gloaty grin on his face then Linus says “I can’t help it. My brother is one crazy, clever dude.
Your restate and answer are great. I like that you included the reason why Linus was relieved. You did a great job with providing text evidence, but using one piece of text evidence for two different feelings requires you to explain how this evidence supports your answer.
At the end of the story Linus feels annoyed, yet a little bit amused. I think that he feels annoyed because in the text, it said,” I turn back to Thaddeus. He’s got a big gloaty grin on his face.” I know this must make him at least a little annoyed because when my brother and sister gloat( or rub something either I did wrong or rub in that they tricked me up in my face) I get really annoyed. I also think he feels amused because in the text, it says,” I can’t help it. I grin back. My brother is one seriously crazy, clever dude.” I know that sometimes you can feel amused too. For example, sometimes it just makes you laugh because you can’t believe they got you.
You have constructed an excellent response to this question! Your restate is perfect and your answer has two conflicting feelings. You did an excellent job of providing text evidence and explaining how you used background knowledge to make the inferences. Well done!
At the end of the story Linus feels very surprised because Thaddeus proved that there actually is a poisonous duck! I know that Linus feels surprised because on page 15 it says, “I turn back to Thaddeus. He’s got a big gloaty smile on his face.” this tells me that Linus feels surprised and a little bit annoyed because of Thaddeus's gloaty smile. I also think Linus should of belived him because Thaddeus is really smart
Your restate and evidence are both well-done. I agree that Linus was surprised but what evidence supports that he still believed that the poisonous duck story was true at the end? In fact, there is evidence that directly proves that the story isn't true and that Linus does not believe it. Evidence from the text that proves this is, "And I get it. He didn't discover a poisonous duck. He discovered a dead fox. Then he built a story around it."
I also think Linus should of believed him because Thaddeus is really smart.
Linus feel annoyed because his brother Thaddeus tricked him into thinking there is a poisonous duck. Thaddeus got Linus all worked up about how the poison could get into the food chain. In the text it says, “I turn back to Thaddeus, he’s got a big gloaty grin on his face. that's why: for the glory of getting me.”
At the end of the story Linus feels relieved because he found out that his brother tricked him into it. He found this out when his brother was gloating a grin.
Linus feels relieved, annoyed and amused because of how he sees Thaddeus had a gloaty grin that made Linus annoyed because he is boasting and Thaddeus tricked Linus into thinking there's a poisonous duck. He’s relieved because it says “That’s why: for the glory of getting me”.Because he knows it’s a joke.He is really amused because of how Thaddeus tricked Linus so bad.
Connor this is an excellent restate, answer, and explanation of how the text evidence supports your claim! One thing that would improve your response is making sure that you don't have any run-on sentences. When you have a complete sentence like, "Linus feels relieved, annoyed and amused because of how he sees Thaddeus had a gloaty grin," you cannot add another complete sentence. You either need to begin a new sentence or use a connecting word. This will make your message more clear.
I think Linus is feeling relieved because he is glad that there is no Poisonous Duck. I can prove that because Thaddeus is smiling but then he smiles back!:) Also he said I fell for it again. I also know that Thaddeus is very cleaver so that means that Linus is relived.
Your restate and answer are perfect! When you provide text evidence, try beginning your sentence with "Text evidence that show this is..." Also, the fact that Thaddeus is clever does not support the answer that Linus is relieved. This evidence supports a different claim.
At the end of the story Linus feels annoyed and amused. For example, on page 15 in the last paragraph it says, “I turn back to Thaddeus. He’s got a big, gloaty grin on his face. That’s why: the glory of getting me. And he got me, alright. Agian. I can’t help it. I grin back. My brother is one seriously crazy, clever dude.” Also I know that gloaty means that you are rubbing something in someone's face. Linus just had to grin back, so he did.
Your restate and answer, and text evidence are excellent! It was also wise to include the meaning of a gloaty smile since this helps to explain how your evidence supports your answer. One thing that will improve your responses is using separate text evidence and explanations for each answer. Well-done!
At the end of the story, I think that Linus felt annoyed at the end of the story because it said “I turn back to Thaddeus. He’s got a big, gloaty smile on his face.” Thaddeus tricked Linus into believing there was a poisonous duck at the lake
Your restate, answer, and evidence are great! One thing that will improve your responses is making sure to explain how the evidence supports your answer. You said, "Thaddeus tricked Linus into believing there was a poisonous duck at the lake." This is true but it's more important to explain how having "a big gloaty smile" proves that Linus was annoyed.
At the end of the story Linus felt very annoyed but in a way, relieved. At the end of page 15, it says, “I can’t help it. I grin back. My brother is one seriously crazy, clever dude.” Linus feels relieved because he is glad this was just a prank. He feels annoyed because he did not approve Thaddeus’s terrible prank. I know this because on page 15 it says, “And i admit it, I am creeped out. I am totally freaked out of my skin in fact.”
Your restate and answers are great! You came up with two different feelings, but there is better evidence to support those feelings than the evidence that you gave. Your second piece of evidence does not come from the end of the story, so it cannot support how Linus felt at the end. Focus on making sure that your evidence supports your claim.
At the end of the story how Linus feels is amused, relieved, and annoyed at the same time. The text evidence for amused is at the the end Linus said that his brother is one seriously one clever dude. The text evidence for relieved is earlier in the story he came rushing home from rock climbing to talk about the poisonous duck. The text evidence for relived is before he saw the ducks and the dead fox he wanted to go home from the park.
Your answer is fantastic! You came up with three different feelings that can all be supported by text evidence. However, your restate is not grammatically correct (eliminate "how"). Also, any evidence that is given from earlier in the story cannot support how Linus feels at the end. Focus on making sure that your evidence supports your claim.
Linus feels annoyed and the evidence from the article is I turn to Thaddeus .He’s got this big, gloaty grin on his face. That’s why:for the glory of getting me and he got me,all right .Again.I can’t help it.I grin back.My brother in one seriously crazy, clever dude. That is the evidence from the evidence from the article.
Your answer and your text evidence are great! Your restate is incomplete because it doesn't say "at the end of the story" and that is a very specific time because Linus' feelings change. You do not need the last sentence. Instead, use that last sentence to explain how the evidence proves your claim.
At the end of the story Linus feels relieved because it is all not real I know this because in the text it said “ He discovered a dead fox and built the story around it”. yet he also feels annoyed because Thaddeus tricked him into believing him I know this because the text said”why would a kid do such a thing”. Linus also feels amused by the fact that his brother actually got him to believe his story because in the text it said”I can’t help but grin back at him.My brother is one seriously crazydude”.
Your answer, restate, evidence, and explanations are all great! You did a great job of proving each feeling separately. One thing that will improve your responses is to focus on eliminating any run-on sentences.
At the end Lines feels relieved, annoyed, and amused. In the text it says. I turn back to Thaddeus he’s got a big gloaty grin on his face. For the glory of getting me. And he got me all right. Again I can’t help it. I grin back. My brother is one seriously crazy clever dude.
Your answer and evidence are great! Your restate is incomplete because it doesn't say, "at the end of the story." Make sure that you write a complete restate. Also, you had to make an inference to come up with your answer so you need to explain how this evidence proves your claim by including your background knowledge.
At the end of the story Linus feels amused, and annoyed. I think this because in the text it says “ I turned back to Thaddeus. He’s got a big, gloaty grin on his face .” This tells me that Linus feels annoyed with his brother because When my sisters like to give I think me big gloaty grins I feel the same way Linus also feels amused because also in the text it says “ My brother is one seriously crazy , clever dude. I think this because my sisters do the same thing and then I feel the same way as Linus.
Excellent restate, answer, text evidence, and explanation! One thing that will improve your responses is to eliminate run-on sentences and reread to make sure that your answer is clear.
At the end of the story, Linus feels annoyed that his brother tricked him that there was a poisonous duck in the lake. Everyone feels annoyed when they get tricked. Also, at the end of the story Thaddeus grins and then Linus says “ My brother is one seriously crazy, clever dude.
Excellent restate, answer, and explanation! However, your text evidence does not support your claim. Better evidence might be, "And I get it. He didn't discover a poisonous duck. He discovered a dead fox. Then he built a story around it. Why would a kid do something like this?" Focus on making sure that your evidence is the best evidence to support your claim.
In the end of the story Linus feels relieved, annoyed, and amused. Some evidence for he feels relieved and annoyed found in the text in the fourth, third, and second last paragraph is “I turn back to Thaddeus. He’s got a big, gloaty, grin on his face. That’s why: for the glory of getting me. And he got me, alright. Again.”. Evidence for he feels relieved and amused is in the last paragraph, when it states “I can’t help it. I grin back. My brother is one seriously crazy, clever dude.”. This is all evidence that he is feels relieved, annoyed and amused.
Excellent response! You do not need to include the paragraph numbers. Also, the last sentence is not needed because you supported your claim very well. Nice job!
linus feels at the end of the story is relieved, annoyed, and amused. He feels this way because his brother just pranked hem. It says in the text that his brother is one crazy brother “I turn back to thaddeus. He’s got a big, gloaty grin on his face. That’s why: for the glory of getting me. And he got me. Again I can't help it. I grin back. My brother is one seriously crazy, clever dude.
Great answer and use of text evidence. Focus on making sure that your restate uses correct grammar. Also, you gave three different feelings so you need to explain how the evidence supports each one of these feelings.
At the end of the story Linus felt amused in the end. In the text it states “I turn back to Thaddeus he’s got a big, gloaty grin on his face that’s why for the glory of getting me and he got me.All right. Again I can’t help it. I grin back. My brother is one seriously crazy, clever dude. The text also says “And I get it he did not discover a poisoned duck he discovered a dead fox then he built a story around it. Why would a kid do something like this?”
Excellent response! Reread to make sure that it makes sense (you wrote "in the end" twice). Also, the last piece of text evidence may support your answer, but you need to explain how it supports it.
At the end of the story, Linus felt like he was relieved, annoyed, and amused. Linus was relieved that a Poisonous Duck is not real and that it was just a hamulus prank. Linus was annoyed because Thad had a big, gloaty grin on his face. Linus was amused because it was a pretty good prank.
Excellent restate and answer! Your evidence is great, but some of it only refers to the text without being specific. Is there specific text evidence to support that it was a prank? Focus on finding specific text evidence that proves your claim.
ReplyDeleteLinus feels glad, mad,and relieved I turn back to Thaddeus he's got a big gloaty grin on his face "That's the glory of getting me” and he got me again
I think you could use a lot more evidence, and also a better re-state. Everything else looks good.

ReplyDeleteExcellent response! You do not need to include the paragraph numbers. Also, the last sentence is not needed because you supported your claim very well. Nice job!
Deletelinus feels at the end of the story is relieved, annoyed, and amused.
ReplyDeleteGreat answer and use of text evidence. Focus on making sure that your restate uses correct grammar. Also, you gave three different feelings so you need to explain how the evidence supports each one of these feelings.
DeleteLinus is so dumb and gullable.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the story Linus felt amused in the end. In the text it states “I turn back to Thaddeus he’s got a big, gloaty grin on his face that’s why for the glory of getting me and he got me.All right. Again I can’t help it. I grin back. My brother is one seriously crazy, clever dude. The text also says
ReplyDelete“And I get it he did not discover a poisoned duck he discovered a dead fox then he built a story around it. Why would a kid do something like this?”
Excellent response! Reread to make sure that it makes sense (you wrote "in the end" twice). Also, the last piece of text evidence may support your answer, but you need to explain how it supports it.
DeleteAt the end of the story, Linus felt like he was relieved, annoyed, and amused. Linus was relieved that a Poisonous Duck is not real and that it was just a hamulus prank. Linus was annoyed because Thad had a big, gloaty grin on his face. Linus was amused because it was a pretty good prank.
ReplyDeleteExcellent restate and answer! Your evidence is great, but some of it only refers to the text without being specific. Is there specific text evidence to support that it was a prank? Focus on finding specific text evidence that proves your claim.
